Co-Authorship & Thesis Progression (First Notes)

Early community findings on how Co-Authorship affects weekly thesis progression.

Published: July 27, 2026

This thread is meant to document the understanding of Co-Authorship and how it affects thesis progression. I expect our understanding of it to evolve as we gain more data points from players. The in-game explanation lacks some critical details, as per usual.

Co-Authorship and Weekly Research Point Accumulation in Thesis Crafting

This week I made note of co-authorship and discipleship benefits for crafting theses (plural of thesis). I was granted permission to post my findings as of the first week of Mohist Hill release (06/23/2026). The following information is not definitive and may change as we deepen understanding of Mohist Hill (and what the global translations actually mean). I encourage anyone with more information on this to let WBM know!

Early Observations

  1. If you invite someone to co-author your thesis and they have already completed their own, they cannot assist with progress. Shared progress only comes from the progress each author makes towards their OWN thesis.
  2. Theses are individual. Co-authors do not share one collective thesis, only shared progress. If someone invites you to their already completed thesis, your thesis will still not be completed.
  3. Citing references will increase max progress values for a particular resource. It does not add research points to your resources.
  4. Stork will show as your mentor if your master is not in Mohist Hill. If your master joins Mohist Hill, the mentor shown on your thesis will change from Stork to your master.
  5. There are master-disciple benefits for thesis progress if both master and disciple are in mohist hill. Disciples can contribute to their Master’s weekly research but Masters cannot contribute to their disciples as co-authors. This is because your master will be listed as a mentor already and will not be able to co-author. At present it is more beneficial to be a master with Mohist hill disciples rather than vice versa. Mohist Hill wants you to keep it in the family, Targaryen style.
  6. There are 10(?) chances to co-author someone’s work per week. Best to spam invites at reset and it will progress quickly. Invite any of your disciples that are in Mohist Hill as they will have the research value bonus.
  7. You gain 200pts per enhanced divine craft, which is the same for self-crafting and “forced guidance.”
  8. It appears 4800 is the maximum weekly research amount at this time.
  9. The 750 research value required for sect promotion will only be counted at the end of the week, post-reset.

Additional Notes

Below this post will be a message clarifying what I think the translation means in regard to thesis progress benefits, but it needs more testing in different situations to fully understand it.

  • Looking for: Master and disciple (both in Mohist Sect) that are willing to test progression values over the span of 2 weeks. Let me know if you are willing to do this.

This is a screenshot of in-game translation for details on progression towards crafting theses. The “disciple” underlined in red 🔴 refers to a disciple of Mohist Hill, as in the player of Mohist Hill sect (you). The words “master and apprentice” underlined in yellow 🟡 refers to the in-game master and discipleship relationship that is independent of Mohist Hill sect. A master can invite their apprentice to co-author their thesis but whether or not this is necessary to actually gain progression points is unclear based on this translation.

Here in the status page of Mohist Hill sect you can see the additional research values that was added to your thesis during the week. (I started my thesis very late, don’t mind me). Points contributed by my disciple are listed in a separate category than my co-author. My co-author had already completed her thesis by the time I invited her so she was unable to contribute any additional research value to mine (since she is unable to make any progression towards her own.)

You can join another member’s thesis at any time, but the earlier the better as there will be more shared progression able to be gained.

You can also complete 4800 weekly thesis entirely on your own if you have that level of dedication!
