Building tips and tricks #5

More community building tricks: smooth circles with 5-degree rotation, flipping floors to fix bottom invisibility, giant painting as floor texture, buildings flipped sideways for crane structures, fire pillar and torch designs, flat dirt ground from a flipped Plot, and using Guqin for string-like details.

1. Rotate objects by 5 degrees for smooth circles

by LyYan

Rotating objects by 5-degree increments lets you arrange them in a smooth circular pattern. The small angle gives enough resolution to approximate a circle without visible gaps or jagged edges.

2. Flip and overlap two floors to fix bottom invisibility

by Raiden-Zongli

Floor pieces often become invisible when viewed from below, which can look odd in elevated structures. Instead of spending extra components on additional flooring, simply flip a second floor piece upside down and overlap it with the first. The flipped face covers the invisible underside.

3. Use the giant painting as a solid floor texture

by Mothisto

With improved axis rotation now available, the giant painting can be laid flat and used as a solid floor texture. Previously, beds were the go-to for this kind of surface. The painting gives a more distinctive look and works especially well for decorative floor sections.

4. Flip a building on its side for crane-like support

by Mothisto

A building flipped on its side can double as a crane arm or support structure. Hide the rest of the piece inside rocks or terrain to leave only the jutting section visible — the result reads as a convincing industrial support.

6. Flat dirt ground by flipping the Plot upside down

by Mothisto

Flipping the Plot piece upside down exposes its flat dirt underside, giving you a clean ground texture without any grass. Useful for building on bare earth aesthetics or hiding the default grassy surface.

Good use by Wyrdrake: Planting on a cemented area made more realistic by inverting the plot. No more plants growing awkwardly out of cement.

7. Guqin for string-like details

by LyYan

The Guqin item can be used to simulate hanging strings or thin rope-like details. Its shape and scale make it a natural fit for adding fine texture to lanterns, banners, or any structure that calls for delicate hanging elements.
